Sony Ericsson Satio – Super Stylish Snapper!
Sony Ericsson Satio
Sony Ericsson Satio
The mobile phone market is one of the most heavily populated consumer markets of all, with a wide variety of manufacturers offering a bewildering selection of models, and often deciding which one is for you can be a case of ‘I like the look of that!’ This is what Sony Ericsson is clearly hoping for with the very stylish and superbly appointed Satio, but does style override function with this very pretty handset?
The good bits
The first thing to say is that this is a very, very good looking phone. You will never take this out of your pocket without someone asking to have a look. It may conform to the current standards of having a big screen and squared off, slim styling, but it is as handsome as they come.
A great big 3.5inch touch screen is the powerhouse point here, a superbly presented version that does everything it should and ticks all the boxes. We love the superbly designed interface, the ability to switch between standard and wide screen mode, the slim construction of the 15mm deep case, and the feel of the phone when held – it’s all very well put together, both in construction and presentation.
The stand out here, however, is the camera; this is a phone driven by its camera, a stunning 12.1 megapixel device that offers full video and stills performance, face detection, picture tagging, astounding quality and a whole lot more – it’s an amazing set up, really, and we don’t believe there is a better one on the market. If you’re one of those who uses a camera a lot then this is most certainly a must for your short list.
With full text messaging options, document reader, Bluetooth capability and all the usual attributes of a high quality Sony Ericsson there is much to recommend the Satio, and we do.
The bad bits
It is not often that we find it hard to say anything bad about a handset – none are perfect, after all – but with the Satio we are left with little to say. If there is one gripe it is that the camera takes over the entire package; this is a superb quality phone camera, rather than camera phone.
That’s not going to put many people off, however, for while the phone itself is no more special than many on the market the way it is designed, the camera facilities and the superb resolution screen will more than make up for it.
It is a large phone, at 111x54mm it is hardly tiny after all, but it packs a punch, and if there is one gripe that customers have raised it is that the email function is not as good as it could be. That, overall, is not a bad appraisal for a handset such as this.
Conclusion
There is no doubt that the Satio is one of the best looking phones on the market, and nor is there that the camera is just about the very best you will come across right now, so if you want a great looking phone with a superb screen and a very, very good camera the Satio is for you. If you feel this phone isn't for you then you can look at some Samsung mobile phone deals that are also good alternative for the Sony Ericsson Satio.
