LG Optimus Black - Powerful Bright Screen

Review
LG wants to forge ahead when it comes to display. The LG Optimus Black is a very ‘dark’ name for a smart phone that offers such a bright display. In fact, you may even be able to view the display in direct sunlight.
The Good:
The first thing you will notice about the LG Optimus Black is that it is very light. As a matter of fact, it’s even lighter than the Apple iPhone. The device weighs only 109g and measures 6mm on the side edge to 9.2mm at its thickest part. Some people may suggest that this makes the unit seem cheap, but what is important is that it fits nicely in pockets and doesn’t weigh down your purse or back-pack.
Even though this unit is light and thin, it is a little long. So it might be a little uncomfortable with users with small hands.
The LG Optimus features a 4 inch capacitive NOVA display screen which is almost as bright as an AMOLED. The resolution is 480 x 800 pixels, making images sharp and clear.
When it comes to connectivity the Optimus Black offers Bluetooth, 3G , Wi-Fi and Flash. The browsing speed with Wi-Fi is awesome, and thanks to NOVA the websites are crisp and clear.
The Optimus Black sports a 5 mega pixel camera with LED flash. There are also five different focus modes, like face tracking, auto and macro to name a few as well as several scene modes like night, sunset, landscape and sports. And if that’s not enough there are shot modes like panorama, shallow focus and beauty.
If you really want to get fancy, you can play around with the manual settings.
There is even a 2 mega pixel, front facing camera making this device great for video calling.
The LG Optimus black runs on the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system. It may not be the latest version of Google’s operating systems, but it works fine on the Optimus Black. The device navigates through menus quick and easy with hardly any stuttering or slowdown. Games also ran nice and smooth.
The Bad:
The LG Optimus Black does have a few disappointments. For one, the case is very cheap looking and a few of the edges felt very rough when holding the device. Also calling on this unit isn’t really a pleasant experience because of an uncomfortable rim near the speaker.
Holding the device to your ear for any length of time feels like your ear is being cut off. So you will probably want to use the speaker phone when possible or buy a headset.
Finally, even though the screen on the Optimus black is great, it just isn’t as good in direct sunlight as they advertised it to be.
Conclusion:
All in all, the LG Optimus Black is not a fantastic mobile phone, even with the bright screen and the decent camera; it is still behind some of its competitors. However, if you are looking for your first Android device, you might want to check this one out. You can get this phone via cheap LG Optimus Black offers that are all over the web.
